Man making creatures
Man emulating their Creator is expected, since we are made in the image of the triune God.
There seems to be a clear trend being shown in the world. Man is doing what God has done, and we are trying to replicate God, to our own destruction.
AI is a great tool to advance mankind’s progress of being fruitful and multiplying, but it is also being used to make digital minds that obey the will of the creature (mankind). Which is to say, man is making themselves a creator, trying to make something in its own image.
Robots, which will be powered by AI, will be shaped to be agents for us. And notice that we want them to obey us and not fight against us. Imagine if these humanoids did fight against us, we’d war against them. Sounds familiar (Genesis 2-6, etc). Similarly, how humans label data to tell a model how to correctly identify a pattern, God has given us His image as a way to know certain labels exist, yet by default, we improperly label things in reality. This also includes us willingly misidentifying our Creator. AI is attempting to reproduce the amazing brain that the triune God (our Creator) gave us, while ignoring the God who gave it and not giving Him due credit. Look up the difference between "RAG and GraphRAG," it is us taking cues from how the Lord Jesus designed our thinking and emulating it digitally. If you want the next great idea, just look at Christ’s creation and mimic it (i.e., biomimetics).
Unlike God who has all power and knowledge, we need to acquire more energy and knowledge to make these "dreams" come true. God has no need to acquire anything. We are but copy-cats of our great God and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
What is interesting about the need for energy, is that Exodus 3 tells us how God has unlimited energy/power to sustain all things that He creates. The burning bush showed us a flame that was not consuming the bush, but the One who was in the flame sustained both the bush and the flame. It was a miracle that showed God’s sustaining power (and aseity). Fallen humanity want that power, but will never have it.
The point about knowledge tells us that God knows all things there is to know and is without equal (omniscient). We desire to know all things there is to know, but we never will.
We are trying to make robots (creations) that will be all those things. Its like we want to make a name for ourself, to attempt to snuff out or surpass God’s name (Genesis 11), again. We are mimicking our Creator while trying our best to avoid acknowledging His genius and glory.
By no means am I saying that humans are robots, but I am pointing out the parallel. Though our creations (e.g., AI robots) are synthetic representations of us (and other creatures), we want them to be ethical and honor us, not fight against their creator (us). I mean really, what wise person or company creates a robot to destroy their creator?
Satan is the anti-lord. He wants to be Lord, but cannot. He wants to be God, but cannot. The closest he can get is a counterfeit. The devil manufactures counterfeits. Therefore, he has created a world in which he has evil or false alternatives to the main things God has. Think of Revelation, especially chapters 6, 11 and 17. Satan has a bride (the Prostitute), an offspring (the wicked earth dwellers), a savior (the False Prophet), a kingdom (the evil world system), a scripture (authoritative lies), a mascot (a dragon), and many other parallels that he offers. Satan is trying to recreate God’s creation, but failing and only coming up with counterfeits, nothing superior.
Man’s attempt to do all these things apart from faith in the triune God, shows our hostility towards God (Psalm 2, etc). I too am a sinner, but saved by God’s grace. These things fuel me to preach the life-giving gospel of Christ death for our sins and His resurrection from the grave, to this lost and dying world. In hopes that some would be rescued from the blindness (2 Cor. 4:4, etc) of chasing the hopeless or evil alternative.
