Seeker Sensitive Qualities
Seeker Sensitive Qualities
Those who embrace the seeker sensitive movement preach to add people to the kingdom of God, but skip preaching how people are excluded. Their focus is to let "as many in" as possible, while at the same time avoiding explaining how people get excluded or kept out. This usually includes "word of faith" and "prosperity gospel" which has significant overlap in preaching approaches (e.g. TD Jakes, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, etc).
What ends up happening is that many are "welcomed in" that should be excluded. The warnings of the Bible (e.g. Matt. 7:21, Luke 9:23, Gal. 5:19-21, 1 Cor. 6:9-10, Eph. 5:5-7, etc) are ignored by the seeker sensitive "Pastor." They have become more concerned with adding to their numbers than adding holiness to people's lives. It is sad, but expected in this age (e.g. 2 Tim. 3:1-5), until Christ returns.
As I mentioned above, Christ summed up those who are excluded in Matt. 7:21, and the Apostles gave the details, for example in Gal. 5, 1 Cor. 6, Rev. 21. The Bible tells us that the will of God is our sanctification, our holiness (1 Thess. 4:3-8, etc). A growing in holiness means separating and departing from sin. You are not going to enter (i.e. inherit) the kingdom of God if you do not pursue holiness (Heb. 12:14); the Father's will for His children.
When Jesus spoke of being born again as the means of seeing and entering the kingdom of God, it comes with a pursuit of holiness (Titus 2:11, Heb. 12:14, etc) that is supernatural and enduring. The carnal man does not pursue holiness (Rom. 8:7, etc), but self-preservation (Mark 4:1-9, etc). May we be diligent to preach the gospel and tell the truth from the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27), not just the inclusive parts.
