America: The Epicenter of Babylon

Yes, America was founded on great ideals and values. Yes, America has an excellent heritage as seen in our founding documents. Yes, America has given the world great and amazing things (e.g., the internet, automobiles, airplanes, smartphones, etc). However, America is also the largest exporter of false teaching and immorality of all stripes (namely, pornography). America the beautiful is also a part of Babylon, like every other nation in the world since Christ ascension. The difference is, America, right now, is the center of this blasphemous city (i.e., world system).

Many people argue that America is now God’s chosen nation to be a light to other nations. Yes, we have the largest export of missionaries in the world, but many of them go into a world filled with sin sourced or founded in America too.

“In spite of our many flaws and numerous failures, God’s hand has been, and remains, on America.” Spoken like a true theological optimist, that has no Bible verses to back it up. This is one of the key reasons why America is the epicenter of Babylon, lots of religion, but no Biblical anchor. Just implications of someone’s theological optimism, the same for the misguided post-millennial that believes America (along with every other nation) is not under God’s wrath.

This is not a cry for pessimism, but biblical realism. God can bring a positive swing of theology or revival at any time. But, where does the Bible say it’ll last until Christ returns? Nowhere. There could be a hundred revivals in a hundred nations before Christ returns, but an overall moral decline is still predicted and assumed by Scripture. Why? Because God has cursed the ground and Satan’s kingdom is still here on earth, along with those a part of Christ’s kingdom. Two kingdoms exist on this earth in parallel (Matt. 13, etc).

Yes, God uses means and can work above and beyond them. But, should we demand an outcome that is only fit for heaven? We are here to perform the Great Commission (preach the gospel and walk in holiness), not change the world system from evil to good (1 John 2:15, etc).
